Final Results of the Season
The Bronze III Pennant team had a challenging time on Friday against Bayview at Roseville, with the weather, for once, being favourable.
Every game was close, but the end result was Roseville being victorious at 1/4. Overall, the team came 4th in the competition out of 6, but everyone gave their best and enjoyed themselves.
The Silver II team had a bye last Friday while hosting the final of the competition at Mona Vale.
Our team waited with bated breath for the result of the competition, between Pymble and Muirfield, which would seal their fate. As it happened, Pymble won against Muirfield and took out 1st place. This left Mona Vale in 3rd place by just a few matches – a very close result.
It was a fantastic year for the team of Liz Dunn, Susie Cole, Lisa Spray, Allison Hansen, Julie Alcock, Rosey Smith, Colleen Fleming and Michelle Blagg.
The Bronze Plaque team played their final match on Friday on a very wet Wakehurst course.
In a nail-biting finish, they were victorious against Manly, 3/2. With Elanora trumping Long Reef, the matches were squared for the season, so it all came down to the number of individual games that were won, which kept everyone guessing until the final presentation. The result was a tie between Mona Vale and Elanora in first place.
Well done to the entire team of Claire Hajos, Jo Boreham, Marg Stack, Karen Tattersall, Glenda Lloyd, Edwina Jones, Kerry Strydom and Janelle Branch. They would like to thank everyone involved in the competition, particularly Steve Jackson for his warm-up clinic and to Liz Dunn for her support and management of the team.
Another sunny day last Friday for the Bronze II team’s final match against Cromer at Monash. The course was well prepared, though challenging after recent rains, but our team arrived determined to achieve a good finish, which they did!
Tania Ebeling had a spectacular 5 up win, Selina Pyle and Helen Stead won 2 up, while Julia Christie finished 1 up. The 4/1 win sealed a great second outright position for the season, a great credit to the team which also included Julie Curtin, Nicky Howe, Kathryn Baldwin and Carolyn Westgarth.
