Waggers Day Wrap Up

Last Wednesday, we celebrated our Annual Waggers Day, and what a day it was! With perfect weather, it was the ideal excuse to pull out those Hawaiian shirts and enjoy a laid-back round of Ambrose.

After golf, the men gathered for some well-earned amber ales, great company, and a raffle full of goodies. For a $10 donation to support the Black Dog Institute, the men could play “Get Your Balls in the Pool.”  Players had the chance to hit three balls from the 16th tee into the pool on the 18th green.

Only three legends managed to pull it off-Nick Taplin, Graeme MacDougal, and Leigh Williamson. With two cases of beer on the line, they had to hit the mark again to claim victory. After countless attempts, a rebound off the flagpole and the pool’s wall, Nick Taplin finally nailed it!

Waggers Day has historically been enoyed by those who participated in the 500 Club (a.k.a. Squares), traditionally a sit-down dinner event with a special guest. Over the years, the event has evolved due to building limitations, but we’re planning on bringing it back to its original magic.

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re going to reinvent the 500 Club, making it bigger, better, and even more fun. If any Wednesday or Saturday players would like to spearhead the revamp, we’d love to hear from you! Reach out to tegan@mvgc.com.au and help us bring this iconic event back to life. Until next year-keep practicing your pitching for those pool shots!
