Thanks to those members who joined us for our “soft launch” of the new Clubhouse last Friday – we had an excellent turnout. I received many positive comments about the changes and how good it will be to enjoy the facilities in the coming months and years. For those of you who weren’t able to attend and perhaps haven’t had a chance to get there yet I urge you to come down and visit the new Clubhouse and have breakfast or lunch in the cafe and/or a drink in the members area.
I made a few comments to those who attended that I will share again for those who couldn’t make it.
We believe we have achieved the goal of having a space that every member can be proud of, happy to bring guests and family members to or even host small events at the Club. We are also looking to provide a new venue for the local community to come and enjoy.
Thanks to all the Mona Vale team, the efforts over the past 15 months in the temporary facilities have been outstanding, especially in making the marquee as good an experience as it possibly could have been.
A special thanks to our GM – Andy, who juggled the responsibilities of managing the day-to-day operations with the considerable demands of the project and its many problems and coordinating with all the various players.
Thanks to my fellow Board members, who have been an amazing team, dealing with all the issues we have had throughout the long journey to this point.
Thanks to all our members for their patience and support through the transition period. This investment has been for your and future members’ enjoyment and hopefully, the benefits of the challenge will now be rewarded.
On a personal note, I want to thank my wife, who has been a great support during the many demanding situations occurring during this project.
There are still a few small issues we are working through and a number of tasks to be completed, but these things will be addressed in the coming days and weeks.
o The electronic doors to the deck are not performing to our satisfaction.
o The temporary facilities will be removed over the next week and through this we will get an additional 10 spaces in the car park.
o The car park repairs will take place as soon as possible.
o We still need to display honour boards, pennant flags, historical photos, etc. We have a clubhouse team reviewing all our golf memorabilia, deciding how best to display it and locations for such items.
Our bar and café operation has now commenced. The café is open from 6.30am – full service will finish around 3pm and a reduced menu will be on offer from 3pm till 6pm – Wednesday to Sunday. If you would like food and coffee, you can order from the café.
All soft drinks and alcoholic beverages should be ordered from the Member’s Bar, which means if you want an alcoholic beverage with your meal, you will need to access both points. Your membership card can be used in both places and must be shown to obtain your discount. New membership cards can be picked up from Reception, but also take the opportunity to use your membership card on the App.
There will be no entry to the Club via the eastern side of the deck. As a registered Club, we want all members, guests and visitors to enter through Reception. This way we can accurately record attendance and market the venue accordingly.
Members will be able to sign in guests and entry will be available for those public customers residing outside of 5kms. The locals who frequent the Club will be encouraged to join as social members.
I hope you enjoy our new Clubhouse. This is a brand new space, and we have to work through how everything works efficiently for us and how to work positively with the Waterview Cafe and The Boathouse. There are bound to be a few teething problems, which we will endeavour to resolve without bothering our members, but if something does occur, I would ask for your understanding and support.
