Women’s Club Championship

Our Ladies Club Championships have come to a close after an exciting few weeks of competition. Over the first two rounds, our ladies played in some horrible weather to secure a spot in the top 8, and over the past two weeks, they fought hard to keep their scores low as all 4 rounds counted towards their final result.

This year’s event was extra special as it marked the first Club Championship in our new clubhouse. The views were simply spectacular for everyone watching, especially as the players came up 15, moved through 16 and 17, and finished right in front of us on 18. It really showcased the value our new deck brings to golfing events like this, making it an exciting experience for everyone.

Congratulations goes to our C Grade Champion, Karen Baselgia, who, despite an injury to her knee that made walking difficult, played an incredible round of golf to claim victory. Wendie Bailey also deserves recognition as the runner-up, making it a hard-fought and memorable championship.

Our B Grade Championship had an exciting finish, with Carole Quinn emerging as the winner. Carole made the dedicated decision not to go on holidays this year just so she could participate in the Club Championships – and it definitely paid off! Going into today’s final match, Carole was 10 points behind our runner-up, Jenny Wetton. After an intense 18 holes, they were square, leading to a thrilling play-off over holes 15 to 18. Carol clinched the victory on the 18th hole, making for a memorable and hard-earned win. Congratulations to both Carole and Jenny for a fantastic competition!

The battle for this year’s Women’s Club Champion was nothing short of fierce, as it often is when Ros Black, a five-time champion, is in the running. This year, however, it was Raina Laughton’s turn to shine! After a tough contest, Raina emerged victorious, claiming the title by 2 points in an impressive performance. Congratulations, Raina – you played so well, and your win is truly well-deserved!

Congratulations to all the ladies who participated in this year’s Club Championship – after all, you can’t win if you don’t participate!
